Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the developers of Lensloot (“Lensloot”, “we”, “us”) collect, use, and share information when you use the Lensloot app (the “Service”). We’ve tried to keep it plain and honest.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following:

CategoryWhat it includes
Photos & scansThe images and barcodes you capture or upload to identify a product.
Identification history & collectionsThe products we identify for you and the collections, notes, and lists you save.
Activity & affiliate dataWhich products you view and which Amazon links you tap, used to measure interest and affiliate referrals.
Device & usage dataApp version, device type, OS, language, crash logs, and basic analytics events.
Contact data (optional)Your email address if you contact support. Lensloot has no sign-up or user accounts.

We do not ask for your real name, precise location, or payment card details. Subscription payments, if any, are handled by the Apple App Store, not by us.

2. Camera, photos, and how they’re processed

Lensloot uses your device camera to scan and photograph products and to read barcodes. You can also choose an existing image from your photo library instead of using the camera. We access these only when you actively scan or pick a photo, and only the image you select is used — we don’t browse or upload your library.

This is the most important part. When you scan or photograph a product, your image is uploaded to our servers and sent to a third-party artificial-intelligence provider (currently Google (Gemini API)) to perform the identification. In other words, your photos leave your device and are processed in the cloud. We send only what is needed to identify the item, and we instruct our AI provider to process the image solely to return a result. We do not use your photos to identify or track individual people.

3. How we use information

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers only as needed to run Lensloot:

RecipientPurpose
Google (Gemini API)AI product identification from your photos.
Amazon (Associates Program)When you tap an Amazon link, your click may be attributed to our affiliate account. Your activity on Amazon is governed by Amazon’s privacy policy.
Hosting & backend providersTo store data and run the app’s backend.
Analytics & attribution providersApp analytics and install/affiliate attribution.

Our analytics/attribution provider is AppsFlyer. With your permission (Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt), Lensloot may use your device advertising identifier (IDFA) to measure which marketing campaigns lead to installs. You can decline in the prompt, or change it anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking — declining does not limit core features.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

5. Data retention

We keep your history and collections for as long as you use the Service, so they’re available across sessions. Uploaded images are retained only as long as needed to provide and improve identification, then deleted or de-identified once the identification is complete. You can delete individual items, clear your history, or delete all your data at any time (Settings → Delete my data), after which we delete the associated data within 30 days, except where we must retain it for legal reasons.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of the EEA/UK (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA) have these rights and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To make a request, email support@lensloot.app. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by the CPRA.

7. Children’s privacy

Lensloot is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (such as encryption in transit and access controls) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where data-protection laws may differ. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice in the app.
